When I go and play a video with external subtitles it doesnt work and It is greyed out. The name of the subtitle matches the video. It works when I play it on my PC and roku but not on the LG TV itself. Internal subtitles work on some videos just not external.
How do I fix this?.

Iwould like to re-create the Theatre atmosfere in my living room, in particular for my children. Will it also possible to customize the sections backgrounds?

It's coming on a year since I bought 2 LG Smart TVs for the MediaLink (Plex) app and there are some major features missing and or bugs that never get squashed even though there have been several firmware revisions. Here's my top 5 tomake MediaLink a much better experience.
1. Small Pause Button. Why is the pause button so bloody small? When I use the magic remote, shouldn't I be able to click anywhere on the picture to pause a video instead of hunting for that small icon at the lower left hand of the screen?
2. No Unwatched Indicator. How do I know which show I left off if there's no icon. Every other Plex player has one. Please add it.
3. Choppy video. Again only Media Link on both my LG TVs experiences this problem. It seems to happen with all sorts of formats where the video skips frames randomly. Please squash these bugs.
4. IR code to launch Media Link. Since the LG remote is annoying I use a harmony remote as a replacement. Now wouldn't it be nice to program it to auto start MediaLink with an IR code that launches a specific app? Like MediaLink???
5. Turnoff the bloody subtitles by default. Why do I have to set this to off myself every time. Or better yet, remember my setting.
Oh and one honourable mention...please publish release notes on firmware upgrades so I know what you've changed. At least I won't get all hopeful you've done something useful only to find out none of the above got resolved.
I went over to my Dad's house, installed a PMS on his laptop and tried to get the Plex app on his LG TV, but I was unable to find it in the app store and try as I might I wasn't able to have any success with downloading what I thought was the right file onto a USB drive and install it from that.
Would anyone be willing to help me on this, I'd really like to have a "app" installed on his TV. Right now it works under a basic File Folder structure and him and his wife just aren't using it. His TV is awesome so it's a real shame.
I know I haven't posted any info about the TV or his set up, and I was hoping if you would be willing to help I could gather whatever you need to help.

Characters like this : ă, î â ț ș, make subtitles to break at them, so playing a video with this subtitles it display subs only until it get a this king of character and after that it not display anything.

Been using Plex for ages 2012 LG model with MediaLink and external .srt files for .mkv always worked.
After upgrading past 0.9.1116.958 (Plex Server) they stopped showing the external subs.
Option one: revert to 0.9.1116.958 and it will work.
Option two: install latest and go through the tedious task of making sure a few requirements are met. (Medialink will NOT show embedded subtitles)
Requirements:
* NO embedded subtitles allowed in the mkv file, as MediaLink seems to ignore external .srt files if embedded is present.
* Follow subtitle naming conventions. [filename].srt or [filename].[country ISO code].srt - I'd recommend the latter, as your subs will show up with correct language naming.
WhateverTheMovie.en.srt Will show as "English (SRT)"
WhateverTheMovie.srt will show as "Unknown (SRT)"
General tips:
Issue:
DTS, atleast for the 2012 LG models will not allow DTS (They claim a DTS license is needed, also for DTS passthrough) or rather it will make the PC transcode to downmixed stereo on-the-fly... assuming your PC/Nas is fast enough, you may not care. Still it's stereo, not surround.
Workaround:
Make sure you only have a AC3 (Dolby Digital) source in your .mkv file, as MediaLink cannot switch sound-stream and the DTS transcoding will likely end with jerky playback.
It's rather easy and quick to remux (make a new mkv container file with less items) hey, you are already trying to remove any embedded subtitles anyway, get rid of the DTS tracks and save some space. Win-Win.

Bonus:
So you got a mkv and only got the DTS track in it? I got hold of a file where you can simply drag-and-drop your .mkv file and it will extract the .dts track, convert it to .ac3 and remux to a new mkv-file. (Your original file will remain unchanged, it will only convert the soundtrack, so video is unchanged aswell in the new file) this can be shared on request. (It consist of components from various open source tools ffmpeg etc and is fully automatic)
Note that it will only work for files with a single DTS track, remux it with mkvtoolnix to only include the sound track you need before handing it to the converter.
Bonus:
Which sub will MediaLink use when multiple files are present?
It does not care what preferred language you have defined on the server or which sub is actually chosen on a specific movie in Plex. Made some tests and it looks like it will use the first it finds alphabetically ordered.
Issue:
I remuxed/converted my file or added an external .srt - but it does not work.
Workaround:
Every single change you make to your file or external files will only get picked up by Plex when you choose your movie and via the "..." menu choose "Analyze" (You can however also find this when inside a plex library, the coq-wheel on the right, choose Analyse, note that "update library" button will do nothing is this regard)
Issue:
When you start a movie, it takes a while before it loads and most likely your TV will restart and the "signal strengt" icon does never reach "full".
Workaround:
Seen it quite a few times if your movies are on a drive that spins down. eg Green series disks, they take a while to spin-up. (You might actually hear it from your PC) and if its not ready within a specific time, MediaLink will timeout and TV will reboot. Usually it will work the 2nd time as the disk is now spinning.
I moved my content to a red series disk. (usually NAS disk, that never really spin down to idle) and the issue is as good as gone.

I've got an issue ... I've got an LG Smart TV which I use to browse to my Plex Media Server (Windows 7) to browse to 2x Movie libraries. I have no channel installed and has been working fine for over 6 months. All of a sudden, when I go to Media Link, it displays Music Channel? (which I don't have), and my 2x movie libraries are nowhere to be seen. I can view the library via web browser, as well as on my iPad even on the LG TV (through input), but it isn't the same within the Media Link. I've tried rebooting the server, TV, updating Plex to latest update, TV to latest firmware but nothing seems to be fixing this issue. I've read on other forum posts to delete the framework.bundle and system.bundle which I have done, but again ... no change.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance.

The built in Media Link on LG TV (we have a 2 year old 3D model) is crap. Most annoyingly it doesn't support multiple audio tracks which we really need. My kids speak Cantonese and Mandarin as well as English and we like them watching movies in Cantonese rather than English but there is no way to change it on my LG TV. If there was a Plex app that could be installed, that would most likely have that feature. Am I missing something or is LG Lying when it calls it a Smart TV!
I currently have in excess of 100 movies on my PC.
When I view my library, on my LG television via the Playz Media app, it only displays 72 movies...
I have no Filters set (apart from the "All" filter)
Am I doing something wrong somewhere or is this a known fault?

So I got up this morning and saw that there was an update for PMS (Plex Media Server). So I updated to PMS Version 0.9.11.13 and went right to my LG 55LM6200 TV and viola!
MediaLink is now working again.
It has not worked since the previous PMS version.

I really don't knwo where to post thios: I am gold sponsor for Simon's PLayZ and would like to see the selection of audio tracks working when both audio tracks have the same name. For eample if two audio track are named "undefined" I can't really select one or the other. The first one will always be used. Seems like an easy/silly bug to fix
First off, I hope this is the correct place to ask this question; it seemed like the most appropriate place out of all the options.
I have a LG smart tv that uses the smartshare app store and I have just recently setup a HTPC in my living room. We are able to access our media through the input list, but we would prefer to use the actual plex app that is in the tv's app store.
Problem is this: once I got it all setup and installed, it told me that I could not connect to the local media server unless I have a plex pass.
But my understanding was that the free version of Plex would work just fine for all of the devices that were setup on the same network (tablets and phones excluded).
So why is it that my TV, which is on my local network (at least it should be on the local network), require a premium subscription?
Please let me know if more info is needed or if I'm not making myself clear.
Is anyone having an issue with the audio on video files being played through external speakers? I'm using LG Media Link to access my movie files on my PC via Plex. The picture comes in great, but the audio is not available through the external speakers. Oddly, I can get audio through the TV speakers.
I have no issue getting audio accessing my music files the same way.
My 60LM7200 is connected to a soundbar using an optical cable. My video files are all H-264/MPEG-4 (.mp4) with AAC audio.
Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this? Is there a codec to download? Can I convert the audio of my existing movies?
Additionally, is there a way to fling video files from an iPad or Android to the LG Smart TV? I can do this with youtube which appears to send the content from the mobile device to the native youtube app on the TV. I was hoping I could do the same through Plex (mobile app- fling to TV through Media Link/Plex). Could be a potential work around to my issue above.
